About Jamie

I’m Jamie Preuss, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Northern Colorado. I bring more than fourteen years of experience providing therapy and consultation using a trauma-informed, collaborative approach.

I’ve long been curious about the human experience—how people adapt, cope, and grow through life’s challenges. This curiosity, along with a deep respect for human resilience, continues to shape the way I approach my work with clients today.

In therapy, my goal is to create a thoughtful and supportive space where clients feel respected, understood, and able to explore what may be weighing on them. Many of the people I work with are navigating anxiety, past trauma, parenting stress, or significant life transitions. They may appear steady on the outside while carrying a great deal internally. Together, we work toward deeper self-understanding, practical coping strategies, and healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

Reaching out for therapy can sometimes feel uncertain or intimidating. If you’re considering counseling, I’m happy to connect and answer questions about the process so you can determine whether working together feels like the right fit.

How I work

My approach to therapy is collaborative, reflective, and trauma-informed. I work with clients to better understand the patterns, experiences, and stressors that shape how they respond to the world today, while also developing practical tools that support meaningful and sustainable change.

I integrate several evidence-based approaches depending on each client’s needs. These may include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help process difficult experiences and reduce the impact of past trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to develop effective coping strategies, and Solution-Focused Therapy for clients who feel stuck and are looking to move forward with clearer goals and momentum.

Attachment-based perspectives also inform my work. Exploring how early relationships shape patterns of connection, communication, and self-understanding can help clients build greater insight and develop more secure and supportive ways of relating to themselves and others.

Above all, I strive to create an affirming and non-judgmental environment where all identities and lived experiences are respected. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we move at a pace that feels thoughtful, supportive, and aligned with your goals.

“…She treats me with respect and concern and I feel comfortable talking with her about anything without judgement. Jamie has helped me process some of the most difficult moments over the past year and I owe her a debt of gratitude for leading me through to better days.”
